2011
28/12/2010
As usual, the days around Christmas are crazy. This time was not an exception, I couldn’t spend the time that would like with my family and ll my friends, but somehow I managed to see all of them. Tomorrow we are going to Barcelona and enjoy a couple of days until new year.
Here are some of the presents that I made for christmas – pumpkin and nuts jam, butter cookies and lavender bags. They were a success!
2010 was a great year, and I wish everybody a wonderful 2011!
diaper bag
28/11/2010
It has been a long while since I came here for the last time. I’ve been busy, the days seem to have less than 24h, but life has been good. Winter is already around here, snow started yesterday and my garden is naked. I’ve been enjoying my work a lot, I’ve been learning to design so many other things and using new tools – interaction design is awesome!
But I’ve been missing sewing so much, that’s why I accepted this order from Susana. This is a diaper bag for her baby boy who soon will arrive.
She gave me all the freedom to choose fabrics, I love to work like this! Just grabbing some fabrics, playing with colours, imagining the shapes and finding my way while I’m creating…it’s so inspiring.
I decided to use some elastic to hold the baby bottles.
And, she also asked for a baby document purse.
Susana, I hope you enjoy it!
cozy weekends
23/10/2010
The cold days already arrived, and I’m trying to adjust (again) to these rainy days! The weekends have been good, but most of the times with indoor activities. I did some marmalade, this always reminds me my childhood endless summers – after two weeks in my grandmother and family farm, we would return to Lisbon, with small hearts because the holidays were ending, but with car full of quinces and other precious things. And then, I remember to see everybody in the kitchen preparing and doing marmalade…oohhh, sweet memories!!
Have a nice weekend!
knitting
29/09/2010
A few months ago, I start to learn to knit while mum was here, she’s an expert! Meanwhile, I learned the basics, but never did anything. Now during this month while I was in Lisbon and with my mum supervision, I decided that was time to try it for real!
So I did this fingerless gloves that I’ve been using almost everyday since I came back, indeed days are getting cold and gray. I also started a neckwarmer, but it goes slowly because every time I make a mistake, I do not have my mum around and things get more difficult. Anyway, I’m happy with this try, and I’m enjoying knitting during the evenings!
holidays
27/07/2010
Next Friday we go to Portugal by car and we will travel a bit around France and Spain and probably on Sunday we are already in Lisbon! I’m looking forward to it! I will be there for almost 2 months, lucky me!
Thursday is my last day at Philips and as a goodbye present I made some strawberry jam ( I did a couple of months ago with this purpose and also for us!) and I baked some chocolate & pumpkin seed cookies! Delicious!
I know that for the next couple of months, the blog will be more calm but I’ll try to update some photos and news!
Have a nice summer holiday!!
A Quilt for Sofia
21/07/2010
The last couple of weeks were crazy, between painting and moving to a new house with 35 degrees, and finishing the quilt, I had no time left! Now everything is done, we are enjoying the last couple of days with good weather around here and counting down the days to Portugal!
The quilt is finished, and I’ve learned so much while I was doing it! It´s not perfect, I still do small mistakes because I’ve never had done one before, but with the time I’m getting there. I’ve learned a couple of lessons and one for sure is never do a quilt under 35 degrees…it´s crazy!
I really enjoyed doing it, I did it with all the care in the world, my evenings were lovely while I was sewing by hand, and I think after summer, I’ll start one for us, for sure! Yesterday, it was my first evening without sewing and it was a bit strange…I think at a certain point the quilt is part of you, it’ s funny!
Sofia, I hope you enjoy it, this is your quilt!! See you here on Sunday!!

Bread
19/04/2010
For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been doing bread. I keep the dough on the fridge and then we have always fresh bread during week. It´s so good and delicious, and the best thing it remembers our portuguese bread, now I only miss the butter!! The best part, it’s so easy to make!!
I also use it for pizzas, and it works perfectly, even the our Italians friends were surprised by it!!
